Crossing grimey ska and ragga rhythms with a UK indie/pop sensibility, Mouthwash’s distinctive sound has a loyal following on the punk scene and is starting to cross over into commercial territory with blistering live performances at either end of the scale; from YoYo at Notting Hill Arts Club to supporting Rancid at the Astoria (RIP). Mouthwash's journey from a punk band in West Norwood School to one of the UK's most unique undergound bands has been quite a ride. Snapped up in their teens by Tim Armstrong to Hellcat records in 2001, the group released one album before internal complications (presumably compounded by a tour around the US where the main means of transport was hitchhiking!) lead to the band returning to the UK to lick their wounds, leaving behind a couple of ska-punk classics and a live reputation of mythic proportions. One line-up change and a lot of life experience later, Mouthwash have returned with a new album and a sound that has developed from the unbridled energy of yesteryear into a focussed blast of street music. Mouthwash have supported bands such as The Vandals, Rancid, Less Than Jake, U.K. Subs and Agnostic Front and toured with bands such as Sonic Boom Six, The King Blues and Rancid.
